Postdoctoral Scientist Clinical Pharmacology Modelling & Simulation
Australia - Sydney, NSW
20d ago

Your Responsibilities :

A new role for a Postdoctoral Scientist is available in the Ethnopharmacology Group within GSK R&D. The role will explore ethnic variation in drug pharmacokinetics, initially on a 12-

month contract. The Postdoctoral Scientist will utilise physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling to support assessments of potential ethnic sensitivity for new molecules in development at GSK.

The Ethnopharmacology Group is a matrix team assessing the potential for ethnic differences in the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, efficacy and safety of drugs in development.

Together with other members of the team, the Postdoctoral Scientist will build and utilise PBPK models, including the use of the SimCYP® Simulator, to explore the contribution of intrinsic and extrinsic factors to variation in pharmacokinetics across patient populations, contributing to model-

informed drug-development strategies within GSK.

In addition to experience in modelling & simulation, an understanding of clinical pharmacology, pharmacogenetics and / or drug metabolism will be an advantage.

To build good working relationships with other GSK R&D functions world-wide, the successful applicant will be a team player who demonstrates personal initiative.

Good written and oral communication skills, an understanding of the importance of scientific accuracy and rigor and the ability to critically evaluate the scientific literature are fundamental to this role.

Knowledge of R / R Studio, in either academia or the pharmaceutical industry, would be an advantage.

Responsibilities will include :

  • To develop, explore and utilise PBPK models to assess the potential ethnic sensitivity of new compounds and other relevant molecules, providing technical and scientific support in this field to the Ethnopharmacology Group.
  • To assist with the identification, procurement and collation of relevant data to assess the potential ethnic sensitivity of compounds using PBPK modelling and simulation.
  • Further analysis of relevant data may also be required, as appropriate.

  • To prepare analysis plans and summary reports for the PBPK analyses performed to support the assessment of ethnic sensitivity.
  • To critically evaluate scientific literature in the fields of modelling & simulation and clinical pharmacology, with an emphasis on the potential impact of ethnic and geographic variability on drug response.
  • To deliver high quality and accurate work and can recognise and challenge inconsistencies in internal and external datasets.
  • In return, we can offer you a rewarding culture that values you, focuses on your career progression, and makes you an integral part of our success.

To become part of our team please apply online now. Successful applicants will be notified of next steps.
