About the role

An exceptional opportunity is available for a Research Facilitation Officer to join Mater Research located at our Aubigny Place Head Office, Mater campus, South Brisbane.

This position is part-time (3 days per week) on an initial 12-month contract and will suit an individual with experience in clinical and biomedical research development and performance activities.

These activities include reporting and supporting strategic funding applications, tracking performance measures for benchmarking and developing promotional material for external marketing of research and additional project work.

What you will be doing

Key accountabilities will include :

  • Improve quality, number and breadth of external funding applications through strategic, academic and, when appropriate, logistical support of external funding applications.
  • Support the development and implementation of key performance indicators for assessing the success of funding initiatives, as well as research impact and quality.
  • Support the development and refinement of internal funding initiatives to achieve strategic research outcomes.
  • Support the development of systems to capture and collect research performance metrics to facilitate strategic planning, to inform Mater Research direction, and to assist with allocation of resources to support research across the Mater campus.
  • Support the Strategic Research Development Team to effectively liaise between clinical and biomedical researchers to facilitate increased collaboration.
  • Assist in identifying research achievements which should be promoted externally and develop promotional material suitable for marketing these achievements through social and other media channels to build the Mater Research brand.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior professional, medical and academic staff across the Mater campus, Mater Foundation, research offices of universities and external funding agencies, and to promote the interests of Mater Research.
  • An appropriate undergraduate qualification in a relevant discipline, such as science, medical, nursing, midwifery, allied health, health informatics, marketing.
  • A PhD in biomedical or clinical research and project management qualifications would be highly desirable.
  • Experience with biomedical and clinical research activities, including funding, compliance, data management, statistical analysis and project management.
  • Experience in establishing work priorities and realistic goal setting, meet deadlines and organisation of a work environment that ensures efficient team participation.
  • Contribution to grant funding applications, including the crafting of project descriptions, track record summaries and lay summaries.
  • Experience in science communication in particular social media channels is desirable.
