An exciting opportunity exists for a Commercial Strategist to join the Product Team for a 12 month maternity leave contract, working on rolling out a new commercial strategy for high profile brands The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Australian Financial Review.
This roll out will include :
Optimising the digital product set to maximise premium advertising revenue
Implementing new ad configurations across all digital channels
Supporting initiatives to maximise programmatic revenue
Establishing new commercial partnerships
Managing the balance between advertising / ad tech and users / subscriber experience.
Success in this role will mean implementing a plan to better commercialise and future proof the digital product set. It will require working closely with teams across the business, including Commercial, Product,Technology, Subscriptions and Editorial to execute these opportunities.
The Head of Commercial Growth is a strong advocate for both our users and our commercial business goals - balancing diverse perspectives in order to deliver our holistic business strategy.
Along with the rollout of the new commercial strategy the role is a pivotal part of the Product team and requires successful collaboration with key stakeholders and business units in order to drive alignment between Product and the broader business in order to deliver commercial requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will be :
Able to take a defined commercial roadmap and implement it across multiple brands and digital channels
A first class communicator with the ability to keep multiple teams and stakeholders informed and across your progress
Work collaboratively with designers, product managers, engineering teams to ensure commercial goals are woven into product strategies.
Have a key understanding of the current digital marketing landscape
Be equally as enthusiastic about driving revenue as you are about delivering a world class product for users
Be passionate about news and the media environment
Able to balance a broad range of stakeholders and their objectives with commercial needs and outcomes
Our ideal candidate will have the following expertise across 5+ years :
Product Management - ideally in the digital space
Adequate experience in stakeholder management
Digital advertising experience - whether it be sales or tenure in other commercial roles
Experience in commercial strategy development
