  • is a School for Specific Purposes catering for 63secondary students who have a mild intellectual disability, emotionaldisturbance and a range of behaviour difficulties.

    It is located in WarwickFarm, near Liverpool.

    The school currently employs anumber of classroom and specialist teachers to deliver an extensive curriculum,using life skill outcomes to meet the individual needs of each student.

    As part of a , the NSW Department of Education has a numberof fulltime positions to support the wellbeing of students.

    About the role : Student Support Officers workwithin the school community to enhance student wellbeing and learning outcomesin partnership with the wellbeing team and the school counselling service.

    Student Support Officers provide individual and targeted wellbeing support andwhole of school wellbeing initiatives and programs that are evidence-based.

    They have a pivotal role in working collaboratively with external agencies andcreating referral pathways for students and families to child and familysupport agencies.

    Diploma or higher qualifications in Youth Work orrelevant Human Services including Youth Work, Counselling, Social Science,Social Work and demonstrated successfulexperience working with young people to improve their wellbeing and mentalhealth.

    NOTE : Recreation leave andflexible working hours

    Student SupportOfficers employed under the Government Sector Employment Act 2013 areremunerated for 52 weeks per annum, required to work for 48 weeks pa with 4weeks recreation leave.

    Hours of duty will be seven (7) hours per day,excluding breaks. Applications for recreation leave will not be approved duringschool term time and Student Support Officers will be required to attend workduring school vacations unless they are accessing approved leave.

    Requests for flexdays in accordance with the Department’s Flexible Working Hours Agreement willbe subject to the Department’s operational convenience which will generallyrequire that flex leave will only be approved during the school vacations.

    A recruitment pool may be created throughthis recruitment process to fill future Student Support Officer roles(including both temporary and ongoing).

    A recruitment pool is valid for 18months.
