Position Profile

We currently have one (1) fixed term part time (0.5FTE) vacancy available up to 31 March 2022, with the possibility of extension.

This process may be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the department. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process.

Both of these options remain valid for a period of six (6) months from approval of the initial recruitment decision.

We are looking for a Technical Officer to provide technical support within aquaculture research programs. These programs focus on the improvement of health and immunity in cultured yellowtail kingfish with direct industry outcomes.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the microbiology aspects of the program and will require experience in microbiology techniques.

You will assist in carrying out components of research projects under direct supervision. You should also have a good understanding of research processes and routine technical procedures.

Eligibility / Other Conditions

To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia.

To be eligible for a fixed term or a casual appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract and this is required as part of your application.

Certificate in a relevant discipline with some experience or a considerable level of relevant experience.

A current and valid Western Australia C class (car) driver’s licence or equivalent is required (if not currently held must be acquired prior to commencement at applicant’s expense)

This position is located in Fremantle.
