The Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions is committed to promoting biodiversity and conservation to enrich people’s lives, through sustainable management of Western Australia’s species, ecosystems, lands and the attractions in the department’s care.

Job Description

Under the limited direction of the Operations Manager :

Responsible for planning integrating, coordinating and implementing the Fitzroy work zone works program including :

  • The joint management arrangements for the works programs identified within the Jalangurru Manyjawarra Bunuba Muwayi Yarrangu joint management plan’.
  • Preparing and implementing the annual schedule of works; coordinating plant, vehicles, equipment, services and material resources for implementation of the works program.
  • Managing the Bunuba program workforce; and actively liaising with joint management bodies, stakeholders and community in relation to departmental outcomes.
  • Capital maintenance programs within joint management estate.
  • Park operations including facility maintenance and visitor risk management.
  • Selection Criteria

    Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total.

  • Considerable experience in and understanding of the issues involved in managing natural and cultural areas for nature conservation, recreation and cultural tourism values, with a preference for someone with experience in managing environmental issues affecting conservation values;
  • including mitigating key threatening processes such as weeds, feral predators, fire management and access control.

  • Demonstrated experience of high-level leadership, supervisory, works program planning and human resource management skills, including the ability to conduct performance development and management reviews.
  • Evidence of high level oral communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in effective liaison and negotiation with other government agencies, indigenous groups, industry, stakeholders, and community interest groups, plus a willingness to work with Aboriginal people and having an awareness of their culture.
  • Demonstrated experience in, and knowledge of administrative and financial management, including budget preparation, expenditure control and presenting reports and applying this to programs associated with infrastructure maintenance and capital works programs.
  • Note : The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
