An opportunity exists for AASW Eligible Social Workers with a strong interest in and commitment to professional Social Work service provision in Hospital setting to join the very experienced and dedicated Hospital Social Work team.

What you'll be doing

Primarily this service of this position will be provision of Hospital Social Work service to inpatients, their family and carers, working closely with the Social Work team and with Multidisciplinary ward and specialty teams.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria :

  • Demonstrates these behaviours with all stakeholders; colleagues, direct reports, as well as our patients and consumers, and those that care for them.

  • Social Work degree and eligibility for the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), including the ability to demonstrate a practical application of the AASW Code of Ethics.
  • Proven ability to work independently and to establish effectively collaboratively working relationships within a multi-disciplinary team and interagency networks.
  • Demonstrated well developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to participation in professional development and quality improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge in the provision of service to consumers, carers and families requiring assessment, counselling, crisis management, case management, advocacy, intervention, appropriate referral and discharge planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage workload demands, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required).
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use health information systems
