OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
As the Bytes Kitchen Team Leader, you are the driving force behind the vision of quality food done quickly’. You take ownership and accountability over the effective operation of the kitchen, from managing stock to leading the team during service.
You’re a natural motivator and you take every opportunity to develop other kitchen staff.
You have excellent attention to detail and understand that the presentation and quality of our product are essential to the success of Bytes.
You’re fast and efficient which allows you to confidently manage multiple tasks, taking any challenges in your stride. You have a passion for good food and you’re constantly on the lookout for new ways of doing things to improve efficiency in the kitchen.
You’re also a stickler for cleanliness you won’t settle for anything less than a sparkling kitchen. Linking into this is your commitment to food safety and hygiene.
You actively contribute to the development of food safety standards and you make sure that all kitchen staff follow set policies and procedures.
You work closely with the Store Manager and provide ongoing support in any way that you can.

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

Coaching and mentoring skills to help develop kitchen staff
Excellent knowledge of the food industry, including current trends
Knowledge of cost management strategies, e.g. food cost analysis, waste minimisation, portion control, etc
Opening / closing the kitchen as per rostered shifts
Preparing the kitchen for service to effectively meet customer needs
Maintaining impeccable cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and reporting any maintenance issues
Ensuring all kitchen staff adhere to Bytes food safety standards and managing any breaches effectively
Managing the competing demands of take away, delivery and catering requirements
Supporting kitchen staff throughout service periods to ensure operational efficiency
Coaching and mentoring team members to maximise performance
Monitoring the quality of meals and addressing any issues
Maintaining clear and positive communication with front of house staff throughout service periods
Confidently managing incorrect orders and other operational issues as they arise
Monitoring and managing stock rotation and portion sizes to maximise profitability
Liaising with the Store Manager on all ordering requirements to minimise excess and wastage
Working with the Store Manager on new policies and procedures to improve the function of the kitchen
