Under the general direction of the Water Production Maintenance Supervisor, performs highly skilled technical, electronic and electro-mechanical installation and maintenance related work in the operation, maintenance, calibration and repair of equipment utilized in the water treatment facilities.
Work involves installation, inspecting, testing, calibrating, and repairing all electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, computerized control systems, telemetry systems and laboratory equipment associated with the operations of the water treatment plant.
Work is performed with considerable independence within established guidelines, policies, and procedures. Work is reviewed through observation, conferences, reports, and the results obtained.
Incumbent is expected to exercise sound judgment and initiative in resolving complex electric, electronic, electro / mechanical and other maintenance related problems.
Performs other related work as required.
Examples of Duties
Performs a wide variety of duties and tests using approved procedures to ensure that all telemetry and instrumentation systems are within the operating parameters of the water treatment plant, booster stations, and elevated water storage tanks.

Troubleshoots, repairs, programs, calibrates, tests and monitors equipment used in water treatment systems, including SCADA and radio equipment, process instrumentation, computer systems and the associated networks.
Troubleshoots and repairs laboratory equipment. Responds to trouble calls, as needed, to make necessary repairs.
Draws schematic diagrams for all systems and keep updating as changes are made.
Performs related electrical work as required. Work involves the responsibility of performing tasks using necessary safety precautions applicable to work.
Performs inventory of supplies and submits orders to water plant supervision for supplies and materials needed for day to day maintenance and repair activities.
Informs and advises supervision of all pertinent matters.
An Associate's degree from an accredited college, technical institute, or university in an electrical engineering, electronics or related field (must upload proof with application).
A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the direct installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic equipment, field instrumentation and IT technologies associated with water treatment, wastewater treatment or automated heavy industrial manufacturing facility.
Must possess training in electronic control, instrumentation, electrical engineering, remote data acquisition, or related field.
Coursework with emphasis in SCADA technology systems. Time spent in desk / design work does not apply toward required experience.
Experience with Rockwell Automation software and GE Proficy HMI / SCADA software.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's license. Applicants who possess an out of state driver's license must obtain the Florida license within 10 days of employment.

In depth technical knowledge of the theory and troubleshooting practices to repair electronic and electrical circuits.
Knowledge of GE Proficy HMI / SCADA software to include iFix.
Knowledge of digital communication protocols : RS-232 / 422 / 485, USB and Ethernet.
Knowledge of automation control systems including electrical motors and motor controllers.

Interprets system diagnostics, alarm messages, indicators and coordinates appropriate corrective actions relating to SCADA network.
Coordinates the implementation and maintenance of policies for SCADA hardware and software.
Establish procedures that minimize or eliminate downtime when system components are being upgraded, modified or new applications / functions are being installed.
Maintains accurate records of all work performed, including repairs and calibration records, requisitioned parts and maintains spare parts inventory.
Overall knowledge in telemetry and control systems for water treatment plants such as pump status with alarm signal, water level measuring and recording equipment, pump controllers, and on-line process instrumentation.
Ability to read and draw schematic diagrams and prints for updating or changing instrumentation and telemetry systems.
Maintain test equipment and tools in working order.
Working knowledge of computer systems and interface equipment; process stability, mode characteristics, and general process control loops.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, the public, technical representatives, and representatives of telephone and power companies.
