Senior Advisor ( Grade 9 / 10)

  • The Team

    NSW Treasury is the NSW Government’s principal financial and economic adviser. It provides the Government and the rest of the sector with high quality advice, excellence in delivery, and strong and transparent risk management.

    Preparation, delivery and monitoring of the State Budget is a significant component of Treasury’s work.

  • The new Strategy and Delivery Unit has been established in the Office of the Secretary to provide a single point of focus for the department’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic;
  • a centralised view of the COVID-19 response including engagement across the department and NSW government; and to enhance delivery and implementation capacity in Treasury.

    The Role

    This role reports to the Associate Director, Implementation and is responsible for supporting the effective delivery of Respond, Recover and Reform aspects of the economic and social response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    The role works with policy leads across Treasury and NSW government to drive effective implementation of economic stimulus and social support measures, identify risks and unblock issues, and provides an ability to surge’ to respond to ad-hoc needs where there is no natural owner of implementation.

    This includes supporting an increased focus on outcomes and ensuring insights into what works and how are fed back into design of future stimulus and support programs.

    Key Skills and Experience :

  • Demonstrated experience in quick, accurate and complex analysis and problem
  • Successful track record in program delivery and reform is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to suggest and manage improvements in established processes,
  • Strong ability to communicate analysis clearly and effectively (verbally and in writing),
  • Experience in succeeding in high pressure, dynamic and innovative environments with an ability to create executive level content in compressed timeframes
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to work collaboratively as part of a team and good interpersonal skills,
  • Eligibility

    To be eligible to apply for ongoing employment within the NSW Treasury, candidates must be an Australian citizen or have the status of permanent residence in Australia.
