About the role The Category Specialist will support the Category and Portfolio Managers to execute the Woolworths Procurement Strategy.

They will utilise the Category Management Framework to deliver to business requirements within their window of opportunity.

They will deliver the annual sourcing plans and meet the team's KPIs to increase value across not for resale’ IT, Telecoms and Digital goods and services spend.

The Category Specialist will also contribute to the development and execution of the category strategies and sourcing initiatives to deliver best total value outcomes, whilst providing high levels of stakeholder satisfaction and compliance with procurement policies, standards and processes.

This role adds value to the Woolworths Group by :

  • Being a Strategic Enabler for growth
  • Developing and delivering Category Strategies with key stakeholders
  • Bringing innovation to and re-engineering of the supply chains to reduce overall costs to the business
  • Delivering Opex cost reduction and cost avoidance / containment and Capex saving, enable revenue initiatives and continuous improvement targets
  • Build supplier and stakeholder relationships
  • Initially reporting to the Portfolio Manager Digital whilst gaining experience across all IT categories, you will :

  • Support the development of category plans in conjunction with key stakeholders
  • Support key GNFR initiatives working with the GNFR Program team and Business Units
  • Anticipate, negotiate and execute commercial opportunities
  • Identify procurement initiatives and associated stakeholders and influence them to achieve desired outcomes
  • Collaborate with the Corp. IT Commercial team to develop, implement and manage vendor performance and reporting as part of a Supplier Relationship Management framework.
  • Develop and ensure the timely production and distribution of Portfolio Reports inc. spend and contract expiry
  • Manage the central repository for contracts, including developing Contract Work Spaces, electronic Transaction Approvals (eTAs) and ensure the completeness and integrity of the associated metadata
  • Activity planning and the timely execution of contracts.
  • Obtain data from varied sources to identify and support fact-driven opportunities. Ensure analysis is accurate, comprehensive and robust.
  • Conduct market analysis to drive category and negotiation strategies.
  • Conduct risk analysis and take action as required
  • Develop an understanding of category influencers and develop category subject matter expertise
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Procurement Policy and associated standard
  • About you You are a results driven individual with a positive approach and an inquistive mind. Your high level of commercial acumen and passion for continuous improvement enables you to add strategic value to all stakeholders.

    In addttion, you will have the following :

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably in Procurement, Supply Chain, IT or Business Administration or equivalent (Professional accreditation / certification, such as MCIPS preferred)
  • Experience in a similar IT, Telecom & Digital procurement or commercial role (preferred)
  • Fundamental knowledge of category management (principles, processes and contracting) and supply chain preferably within a large matrixed organisation
  • Proven analytical experience Cost Modelling, Financial Analysis
  • Exposure to the Agile Mindset ways of working
  • Appreciation of the development and execution of sourcing strategies preferably in the IT Category
  • Effective communications and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage, influence cross functional stakeholders
  • Strong presentation skills, with ability to present to a wide range of audiences for a variety of purposes.
  • A flexible, team-work approach to tasks and responsibilities
  • Good time management skills workload planning and prioritisation
  • Proficient in collaboration software tools such as Google Suite, Trello, Jam Board
