Appointment Pool

Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of First Aid Officers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2021.

Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2021.

The suitable applicants will be the primary contact for the management and administration of first aid at the school. The First Aid Officer will coordinate with parents / guardians to collect sick or injured students and supervises students with self-administration of prescribed medication, as documented.

The suitable applicants will have a minimum of First Aid and CPR qualifications as well as excellent communication and organisational skills and a caring attitude.

Knowledge of school based computer administration systems would be an advantage.

Willetton SHS has a student population in excess of 2500 and the school is inclusive and comprehensive providing courses for Years 7 to 12.

The school successfully caters for the academic, social and emotional development of students with diverse educational needs including those with English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL / D) background, special needs and gifted and talented students.

There are approximately 200 teaching staff and 120 support staff on campus. Willetton staff recognise that students are individuals with different histories, interests, abilities and aptitudes.

The school is committed to the intellectual, creative and social development of the students by the provision of stimulating and relevant programs and orderly teaching and classroom practices.

The school offers a number of specialist programs to meet student needs and interests. These programs include Gifted and Talented, Specialist Basketball and Computing and there is a strong focus on Vocation and Education Training (VET).

There are numerous after school sporting teams, debating and poetry clubs. Willetton SHS is a Lead Language School and a Department of Education Teacher Development School in Languages.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria) :

  • Relevant knowledge and expertise in First Aid and associated qualifications.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with staff at all levels and in emergency situations.
  • Experience in effective record management, activity recording ad ability to use a range of software applications.
  • Sound organisational skills to develop effective administrative practices with the ability to work independently and to seek support when required and implement recommendations.

    Eligibility and training requirements

    Employees will be required to :

  • Hold a current certificate in Occupational First Aid (HLTSS00027);
  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
  • The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
