We are looking for a Consulting Manager (CM) who can lead teams for small to mid-size software sourcing engagements and critical workstreams for large software sourcing engagements.

The CM participates as part of a global sourcing and transformation advisory team in strategy, licensing and negotiation advisory in support of client Digital Platform (Software, SaaS, IaaS, Hardware, etc.

initiatives with a primary focus on ANZ and some Asia, in-region clients. He or she should possess dynamic consulting and leadership skills and will lead in the development of initial assessments, project plans, vendor research and selections, license and subscription optimisation, financial modeling, RFP creation, contract negotiations and post selection administrative actions.

The CM is expected to be utilised in excess of 80% annually.

As our ideal candidate, you will have :

  • Minimum of seven years’ commercially focused experience in software, cloud and other technologies
  • Minimum of three years’ consulting sourcing related experience in software and cloud negotiations
  • In depth knowledge of at least one of the major software vendors (Microsoft, ServiceNow, VMWare, IBM, Oracle, SAP and Salesforce) including understanding of their commercial models, licensing metrics, market positioning and sales tactics, and corresponding vendor specific sourcing strategies
  • Dynamic intellectual curiosity / passion for learning and growth
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, analytics, computer science or engineering or equivalent; MBA or similar advanced degree is a plus
  • Specific training or certification in Tier One software (e.g. Microsoft, S / 4HANA, Oracle, etc.) is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills / effectively communicating with all levels of management with both concision and eloquence
  • Ability to clearly define projects, objectives, goals, schedules and assignments
  • Ability to manage complex projects and aggressive timelines
  • Ability to present and sell ideas at multiple levels in a large organisation, including support for and participation in ISG sales pursuits and presentations
  • Understanding of enterprise sourcing cultures and behaviors
  • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, including the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Proven analytical and research skills
  • Ability to identify and cultivate additional projects within existing Client’s and support sales calls as required
  • Proficiency in the use of business collaboration and analytics tools (e.g. O365, Dropbox, Tableau)
  • Willingness to travel, but generally around 25%
  • In this role, you will :

  • Identify and articulate optimisation and negotiation opportunities related to client’s spend with Microsoft, SAP, Oracle, IBM, Salesforce, EMC / VMWare, Cisco, ServiceNow, Microfocus Workday and more
  • Negotiate best in class price, quality, terms and conditions, and service levels for IT solutions and services
  • Maintain expert level thought leadership proficiency on licensing for leading on premise and cloud software
  • Develop and execute Digital Platform (Software license, SaaS, IaaS and hardware) optimisation and sourcing processes in client projects focused on delivering superior commercial structures inclusive of cost savings, risk mitigation and improved agility
  • Assist our clients in thinking through broader operational and transformation implications of their technology purchases.
  • Stay abreast of research and analyse the relevant IT marketplaces (i.e. software, hardware and consulting / contracting vendors) to provide industry insight on the abovementioned providers
  • Generate articles, papers and other collateral on industry trends and strategies for use in marketing and education to our prospective Clients;
  • speak as a SME at ISG conferences and other events

  • Interact and influence effectively at an executive level with our clients
  • Perform complex financial evaluations of proposals, business case scenarios, and transformation costs and risks associated with technology deployment
  • Manage multiple projects which potentially span a wide category range (services, cloud, transformation, software and hardware)
