About the Role

Are you a high performing and motivated individual seeking to further your banking and / or recoveries experience? We are currently seeking a motivated Senior Credit Management Officer to join the high performing Credit Management Team within BOQ.

You will be responsible for the management of a portfolio of BOQ's troubled and impaired commercial exposures to effectively reduce bad debt and look to implement solutions to remediate delinquent accounts.

With a clear understanding and adherence to compliance requirements, you will ensure all legislative requirements and BOQ policies are met at all times.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Managing customers within the set collections framework to maximise returns, minimise losses and manage reputational risk
  • Educating customers on their alternatives and the ramifications of their actions through counselling practices
  • Implementing the most appropriate course of action for resolution of delinquent or irregular accounts or recovery of BOQ’s security / asset
  • Identifying vulnerable customers and customers experiencing financial hardship in line with Bank procedures
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date records of actioning, events and account maintenance in the BOQ Group’s system / s
  • Where required, liaising with the Bank’s vendors including but not limited to solicitors, property presenters, valuer’s, auctioneers, insolvency practitioners
  • Where required, managing high risk delinquent customers including late stage arrears, customers subject to MIP activity and customers with whom there is an actual or perceived litigation risk
  • Managing the Bank’s bad and doubtful debts in line with the provisioning framework
  • Consulting with management on modifying business processes to enhance service delivery
  • Providing a high level of service to internal and / or external customers responding with a sense of urgency and positive action.
  • About You

    As a self-starter and motivated problem solver who has a passion for helping others, you will exhibit a calm and methodical approach with the ability to engage and empathise with customers while providing exceptional customer service.

    Required Skills :

  • Experience with inbound and outbound phone calls, high level listening skills, clear and concise phone manner
  • Proven record of business acumen and sound commercial judgement
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Suite
  • Sound knowledge of banking and finance industry
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and competing customer needs
  • Experience in distressed debt management and / or collections
  • Experience in managing secured and unsecured debt with an understanding of collection policy and procedure, including legal requirements and restrictions.
