The Role

The key responsibilities for the Hull Technical Specialist WA are :

  • Shipyard surveillance, inspection, assessment and reporting on sub assembly, assembly, unit and block fabrication progress and quality;
  • Witnessing of hull and structural related testing;
  • Provide specialist technical advice during ship production and acceptance, related to product quality assurance;
  • Assist in the technical assessment of the design changes;
  • Assist in the establishment of strategies to review specifications, plans, procedures and design documents;
  • Undertake review of quality assurance, technical and test reports; and
  • Provide assurance services on hull and external systems requirements.
  • About our Team

    Naval Construction Branch (NCB) aims to be recognised as the critical driver in the delivery of capability to Navy within the national shipbuilding enterprise.

    The long-term, continuous build program outlined in Government’s Naval Shipbuilding Plan of 2017 requires Defence to take a new approach in the waterfront management of ship and submarine construction and that is why NCB are calling for applications from talented, motivated and skilled people to drive this critical national agenda.

    The Hull Technical Specialist WA will be required to work in a complex operating environment in Henderson WA as part of the NCB, which is headquartered in Adelaide.

    The position supports the implementation and delivery of continuous shipbuilding and will be an integral part of the Technical area within NCB with the opportunity to support the production and testing of hull and external structures across the WA shipyards and subcontractors.
