  • About the role :

    Anglicare Sydney is sustainably investing and growing our retirement living, aged care homes, and social housing portfolios across Greater Sydney and the Illawarra.

    The expansion of our Woolooware Shores site features 42 retirement living apartments, a 48 bed residential care home called Bay Breeze, a community centre, village green, cinema, and relaxation centre.

    Reporting to the Residential Care Manager, this newly created Maintenance Officer position will service Anglicare’s Bay Breeze site and undertake general maintenance duties, ensuring they are completed on time and to a high standard.

    This is a permanent part-time position working 24hrs per week.

    You will anticipate, arrange and carry out repairs, maintaining buildings and advising on replacement or repairs as required.

    This is a great opportunity for someone who likes to work methodically, setting priorities, working quickly and multi-tasking.

    Key responsibilities :

  • Ensures that maintenance duties are completed in a safe, efficient and effective way by following specified policies and procedures with special attention to all aspects of safety;
  • Make decisions about costs and priorities and documenting a full plan for work to be completed;
  • Contribute to the support of residents by providing quality service as required, and with respect to dignity and privacy;
  • Contribute to after-hours maintenance requirements from time to time; and
  • Participating in workplace consultation activities and actively participating in any other safety activities as prescribed.
  • Skills, knowledge and experience needed :

    Essential :

  • Recent experience in general maintenance within aged care would be an advantage.
  • Trade qualification desirable but not essential.
  • A current NSW driver’s license.
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic.
  • Alignment with Anglicare’s Christian Values.
  • Passion for assisting older people and working in Aged Care.
  • Note : Effective from 1st May 2020, all visitors (including staff, volunteers, family, agency / contractor or others) must have a current influenza vaccination certificate to be authorised to enter any Residential Care Home.
