The Region

The Department for Child Protection is currently seeking variousprofessionals with experience in working with children and youngpeople to provide high quality support and effective casemanagement within the Far North Far West region.

The region provides various services to children, young peopleand their families within South Australia and works to supportvulnerable children and young people to be safe, strong andconnected.

The Opportunity

In this role you will work within a team to provide high qualityservice and support that will deliver significant improvements inthe lives of children and young people.

You will promote casediscussion, reflective practice and skill building towards practiceexcellence. You will communicate, consult, network and partnercollaboratively with a broad range of service sector providers toidentify demand and match appropriate services to collectively meetchildren’s needs.

Key components of the roles include :

Providing a high quality and effective case management service to respond to the needs of children and their families in a timely manner and within statutory guidelines.

Working with children who have entered into the care of the Minister so their development, stability and security is assured.

Assessing needs of children and families, and planning and delivering focused intervention to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.

Undertaking complex child protection investigations and assessments, assessing the needs of children and families.

Essential Qualifications :

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanderdescent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do nothave the essential qualification, may apply for and beengaged / assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitledto apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring aqualification in Social Work within the Department for ChildProtection (DCP).

AHP (Allied Health Professionals) A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

PO (Professional Officers) An appropriate degree qualification in community services, sociology, criminology, justice, correctional practice, social sciences, health, human services, mental health or related field.

People from a wide range of different backgrounds, with skillsand experience in many different fields working with children andyoung people are encouraged to apply.

If you have a passion and astrong understanding of issues that could be associated withchildhood trauma, abuse, young persons in custody, and really enjoyworking with children and young people from diverse backgrounds,this could be the job for you.
