Anglicare have an opportunity for a strategic and passionate Leader to join our organisation and lead and manage our Volunteers team.

Our Volunteers provide support to our Residential Care and Retirement facilities to enhance the wellbeing of our elderly residents and clients, as well as supporting our Community Services.

You will be joining a Christian organisation with a history of service spanning over 160 years. Our organisation exists to serve people in need in our community, enrich lives, and share the love of Jesus.

About the role :

Reporting to the General Manager of People and Culture, you will be a driven and proactive Leader with experience across supporting large and regional teams.

There will be a number of projects to work on in alignment with Anglicare’s 2028 Strategic Plan, including developing an organisation-wide Volunteers program strategy and various Volunteers initiatives to enhance operational excellence of our Volunteers.

You will be someone that is able to naturally form and nurture relationships through supporting and empowering your team, while also comfortable interacting with and developing meaningful relationships with local Churches and Ministers to grow our Volunteer groups.

Key accountabilities will include :

  • Developing and implementing an organisational Volunteers program strategy by defining key outcomes and creating procedures that support Anglicare’s strategic goals.
  • Evaluate existing Volunteer initiatives and implement new initiatives to ensure that the Volunteer program supports the needs of the organisation.
  • Provide support to our Residential Care, Retirement Living, Home Care and Community Services in how to best utilise their volunteers.
  • Proactively work with Parish Development Officers, local Churches and Ministers to strengthen these relationships and grow our volunteers from the Churches.
  • Ensuring your team are supported to perform in their roles by creating a culture that is consistent with Anglicare’s Christian Vision, Mission and Values through proficient staff selection, role design and employee engagement.
  • Champion the Volunteers team to raise awareness within the organisation and ensure that Volunteers are recognised for their contributions by establishing and maintaining a recognition system.
  • Overseeing the recruitment, induction and ongoing engagement of Volunteers.
  • Planning and implementing training and support programs to enable Volunteers to provide practical assistance, emotional support and information to clients.
  • To be successful in this role you will :

  • Be aligned to Anglicare’s Christian values, vision and mission to ensure you are able to enhance partnerships amongst Church communities.
  • Be genuinely interested in building positive and long-lasting relationships with internal teams, Volunteers, local communities and the Anglican Diocese.
  • Have completed tertiary Business, HR or Psychology qualifications.
  • Have gained 5+ years’ experience within Volunteers Management, HR or similar background.
  • Have experience in implementing and leading change management.
  • This is an integral role that supports Anglicare to extend our services and presence to communities in greatest need. Our Volunteers team are passionate about and proud of their achievements in supporting communities and people in need.
