  • Fantastic opportunity for a Research Fellow to join a team of established colleagues in a leading social sciences and humanities research institute.

    The Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation aims to understand complex social issues associated with globalising processes through innovative, mixed method multidisciplinary research.

    The DECRA Track Research Fellow will be responsible for conducting high-quality research in an area of the social sciences or humanities that aligns with one of the four research streams

    of the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation (ADI). Possible areas of research include youth and digital citizenship, social cohesion, security and peace, science and society, migration, diversity and heritage.

    This role will see you actively involved in the research activities and academic community of the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation (ADI).

    This is a full time 2-year fixed term contract based at the Burwood Campus.

    Your key responsibilities will be to :

  • Provide an excellent contribution to the Institute’s and Faculty’s research programs
  • Exhibit and / or publish high quality research in journals of high repute
  • Contribute to the achievement of Deakin’s strategic goals in research, engagement and innovation
  • Contribute to the research achievement of the Faculty
  • Undertake professional and administrative roles and responsibilities that enhance the discipline and Deakin
  • Develop relationships with research, community, industry and government for enhanced research outcomes
  • To be successful, you’ll have :

  • A PhD in relevant social science or humanities discipline. Relevant disciplines include but are not limited to sociology, politics, international relations, cultural studies, anthropology and gender studies.
  • Emerging reputation in humanities and social sciences research.
  • Eligibility for the ARC DECRA scheme for submission in DE23 and / or DE24
  • A research proposal and record of accomplishment that is competitive for the ARC DECRA scheme.
  • Ability to contribute to communities through research and a commitment to our strategic plan.
  • Knowledge of and expertise in one or more of the following research areas : youth and digital citizenship, social cohesion, security and peace, science and society, migration, diversity and heritage.
