Here is an exciting senior leadership role within the Surfing Australia National High Performance Program team. We are looking for an experienced Lead Physical Preparation Provider who can work across our Pathway (Elite Olympic / World Championship Tour level through to Emerging and Developing Talent) supporting Australian athletes to become the world’s best surfers and people.
The primary responsibilities of the role are :
Providing performance support in the area of Physical Preparation (strength & conditioning / flexibility & movement) to individual athletes as a part of both HP Program activity delivery and any identified Coach / Athlete hub integrated’ performance team.
Implementing and driving a collaborative approach to plan, preparation and performance that optimises expertise to close gaps’ to performance
Linking national sport partner philosophies and ways of working to consistently align planning, delivery & monitoring frameworks, and technology platforms internally with staff & coaches and externally with sport & system partners
Balancing organisational leadership accountabilities, including potential staff management, while maintaining a technical performance focus by prioritising and remaining agile over the Olympic, International Surfing Association, World Surf League Tour performance cycles.
An inherent function of a senior role in the SA HP department is National System leadership accountability. When there are no staff supervision responsibilities, were available and agreed, senior staff will have additional leadership functions associated with :
System leadership of agreed SA HP Program strategic objectives
A liaison in the coordination of allocated Performance Teams (when appropriate)
National Coordination of discipline network
Projects / Higher Duties
7+ years’ experience in the provision and application of strength & conditioning services
2+ years’ experience in National high performance sport support environments
Demonstrated success in utilizing strength & conditioning knowledge of planning, periodising and managing athletes across multiple seasons / campaigns to support medal-winning performance (or equivalent) at a senior international level.
Demonstrated experience in using a holistic approach to planning and monitoring athletic performance in both teams and individual athletes to achieve performance progression.
Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a multi-disciplinary / sports team environment with high performance coaches and athletes.
Experience in developing and supervising staff to achieve performance outcomes.
Design and delivery of strategic planning to deliver improved business performance
Relevant tertiary qualification (postgraduate qualifications are desirable)
ASCA Professional Coaching Scheme - Professional Level
Demonstrated understanding of theory and modern coaching philosophies and the application of such for the development of high performance training programs
Knowledge and understanding of Australian High Performance sport systems
First aid and resuscitation certificate
Working with children check
Current driver’s license
Contract to start November 2020 (based at Surfing Australia Head Office Casuarina NSW) through until December 2021 (end of Tokyo 2021 Olympic Cycle).
