Workers Compensation Claims Manager
A rewarding opportunity exists within Aveo Group for a committed and experienced Workers Compensation Claims Manager to join our team based in Sydney's CBD.
Reporting into the Group Health and Safety Manager, the primary purpose of this position is to deliver professional claims management, drive proactive engagement with injured workers and deliver improvement across workers compensation (lost time, claims cost, premiums etc.).
This position will act as 'subject matter expert' for workers compensation matters across the organisation, being responsible for reviewing all claims and implementing appropriate strategies to mitigate risk and encourage return to work.
The responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to :
Provide guidance, advice and support to operational managers concerning their WHS responsibilities and the achievement of Aveo's safety objectives and compliance targets as they relate to injury management and rehabilitation.
Develop / review / facilitate / advise on injury management training as required.
Develop and promote relationships across functional business areas.
Manage the administration of the workers compensation scheme and rehabilitation service for the company.
Manage, mentor and advise Aveo's Return to Work Co-coordinator / National Injury Management Officer.
Generate meaningful, accurate and timely workers compensation reporting and key performance indicators (leading and lagging).
Identify at-risk or questionable claims and flag for further review by the insurer.
Manage all appeals / claims investigations / common law matters.
To be considered for this role you will have :
Extensive hands-on experience in workers compensation and claims management
Ability to act as a subject matter expert for worker's compensation matters in a large national organisation across multiple state jurisdictions.
Extensive experience / knowledge of return to work processes and injury management.
Sound knowledge of the relevant State Workers Compensation Regulations and Acts.
Demonstrated experience dealing with difficult workers to achieve desirable return to work and claims outcomes.
Demonstrated experience in reducing claims costs, insurance premiums and improving average return to work times.
Ability to manage critical incident investigations and deal with external regulators.
Management and leadership experience at a similar level, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Demonstrated experience building and delivering fit for purpose, accurate and timely reporting.
Accreditation as a Return to Work Coordinator.
Bachelor degree in Science, Health, WHS or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Qualifications specific to Workers Compensation highly desirable.
