Your Role

As the SEA5000-1 Government Furnished Material (GFM) Project Officer / Manager, you will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex GFM management work within an integrated workforce.

You would engage in problem solving and issues management, assist with coordination of GFM outcomes to align with the project objectives and communicate expected GFM outcomes that impact on project delivery.

The GFM Project Manager (PM) will require knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.

  • The role is responsible for the development of stakeholder relationships and in relation to the Hunter Class Frigate Capability;
  • through co-ordination of technical, commercial and GFM resources and functions. Tasks include, however are not limited to :

  • Provide assistance in a multi-disciplined GFM team to progress GFM activities including support to strategic planning, and Subject Matter Expert (SME) input in relation to the SEA5000-1 Project;
  • Establish agreed delivery milestones with Government Furnished Material (GFM) suppliers within Defence and Prime Contractor.
  • Establish the alignment of GFM milestones within the SEA5000-1 Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and the Contractor Master Schedule (CMS);
  • Management of GFM deliverables as well as leading the coordination of Contractor feedback on the CMS milestones and requests relating to GFM;
  • Identifying the key artefacts and delivery processes involved with GFM products required for developing Contract Change Proposals (CCPs).
  • Build and sustain internal and external stakeholder engagement, (Engineering, ILS, Governance, Combat Systems, Commercial, AIC, Navy and Prime Contractor) including the ability to work collaboratively with Contractors to negotiate effective outcomes
  • Contribute to managing a team, including cross functional stakeholder engagement with consistent communication, setting clear performance priorities, influence and motivate team members including actively lead group activities, displaying high behavioural standards, with a commitment to professional development;
  • Co-ordination of the budget estimates / forecasting for GFM cost aspects in collaboration with GFM Product Leads and other GFM suppliers

    Our Ideal Candidate

    We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated GFM experience, preferably in a maritime acquisition (project) environment, with excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

    The right person will have Leadership behaviours and traits in accordance with One Defence Leadership Behaviours. Demonstrated ability in stakeholder engagement and liaison with stakeholders in relation to complex issues.

    They will be required to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.

    You will be accountable to set work priorities, communicate effectively, and manage workflow and resources whilst working in a dynamic and busy environment.

    This ideal candidate will need to exercise a degree of independence utilising sound judgement practices to provide expert GFM outcomes using their in-depth knowledge.

    The ideal candidate will also be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development of their work area.
