DoT is the Hazard Management Agency for the hazards of Marine Oil Pollution and Marine Transport Emergency. Collectively these hazards are known as Maritime Environmental Emergencies.

To fulfil its Hazard Management Agency obligations, DoT maintains a dedicated MEER team within Maritime to undertake a range of actions to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from a MEER incident.

There has never been a more exciting time to join our MEER team in a leadership role.

We’re looking for

An experienced incident management practitioner to lead our Maritime Environmental Emergency Response (MEER) team.

The position of MEER Incident Controller is an integral part of that team, providing leadership and management of the team both outside of an incident and during an incident.

During an incident, the position of MEER Incident Controller is DoT's default Incident Controller, responsible for leading the entire Incident Management Team.

During non-incident times, you will be responsible for managing the Department’s MEER Team. You will also play a lead role in developing and maintaining the Department’s MEER capability.

Using your exceptional leadership skills, you will lead a specialist and highly motivated team who are committed to delivering best practice incident management.

Your extensive experience in incident management will also enable you to make a key contribution to prevention, preparation, response and recovery strategies in respect to maritime environmental emergencies.

This position offers a unique opportunity for a highly skilled leader to play a pivotal role in ensuring an effective response to maritime environmental emergencies within the state.

  • Apply contemporary response techniques during incident management
  • Identify problems and develop solutions whilst working under pressure in a dynamic, ever changing environment
  • Demonstrate excellence in working within a team environment
  • Successful applicants will be required to hold a current and valid Western Australian Driver’s Licence.
