As a Scientist based primarily within the Leica Biosystems Melbourne Facility, you will play a leading role in the team activities associated with the development, transfer and subsequent manufacture of reagents including protein products.

You will be responsible for supporting all reagent related manufacturing (including manufacture of raw materials) and dispensing finished products in line with customer needs.

Support of activities within the wider laboratory services team will also be required.

To take a leading role in supporting reagent manufacturing activities in LBS Melbourne Site.

What we are looking for :

  • To perform protein purification and analysis operations as required in production
  • Master specialised equipment specific to protein purification and analysis.
  • Perform basic laboratory work such as diluent and media preparation and dilution calculations
  • Perform Downstream manufacturing operations in accordance with cGMP
  • Compose batch process documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Raise and investigate process deviations
  • Lead risk assessments and change management processes as required
  • Able to train new starters in downstream manufacturing operations
  • Use SAP system for some transactional work
  • Source and control stocks of reagents and consumables for production use
  • Highly Desirable :

  • A high level of technical expertise in protein purification techniques and analysis
  • Appropriate tertiary education in Biological Science
  • Previous experience in a cGMP or regulated working environment.
  • Able to move strategy to action and ensure sustainment.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently for extended periods of time
  • Proven ability to be a positive influence within a team environment.
  • Experience of working in the biotechnology / medical device industry
  • Previous experience with deviations, change management or technical writing.
  • Passionate about utilising critical thinking
  • Ensure that all relevant information is communicated to the appropriate stakeholders to maintain transparency
  • Technical experience with advanced staining platforms and tissue processors
