    The Queensland Nurses and Midwives' Union (QNMU) is the industrial and professional organisation for nurses and midwives working in public and private health and aged care in Queensland.

    The QNMU seeks to promote and defend the industrial, professional, social, political and democratic interests of over 62,000 members.

    We have over 170 employees including organisers, professionals and administrative personnel, and manage a multi-million-dollar operating budget.

    About the Opportunity

    We are currently seeking an experienced and passionate Workers Compensation Servicing Officer to join our Member and Specialist Services Team.

    In this position you will report to the Occupational Health and Safety Officer and be responsible for responding to, advising, assisting and representing QNMU members regarding their workers compensation entitlements claims and associated rights and obligations.

    You will also work within the broader Member & Specialist Services Team and be regarded as the subject matter specialist, in relation to the operation of workers compensation statutory schemes covering QNMU members and other relevant insurance arrangements including income protection.

    Additionally, you will also be responsible for maintaining and developing internal knowledge and information relating to workers compensation and will act as a resource for the broader QNMU including Organising, Education and Member Connect.

    About You

    To be successful in this role, you will possess the following : -

  • Demonstrated experience, commensurate to 5 or more years, in a similar role, case managing Workers Compensation claims in a large or complex environment;
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge of State and Commonwealth workers compensation legislation, regulations and systems;
  • Highly developed communication and negotiation skills;
  • High-level written and oral communication skills;
  • Demonstrated solution focused skills for responding to member concerns;
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of the industrial and professional interests of nurses and midwives;
  • Demonstrated commitment to QNMU’s values, purpose and trade unionism in general;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and take a collaborative approach to work;
  • Demonstrated ability to research, critically analyse, evaluate and reach sound conclusions and provide viable options; and
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, establish priorities, use initiative and be proactive in raising and dealing with issues.
