Purpose and Job Summary

The Data Solutions Group provides innovative data, analytic and reporting solutions across the enterprise which will differentiate ORIX as a data-driven world class Asset Management firm.

Our goal is to harness data as a critical asset to achieve superior financial results and to drive operational efficiencies across our core businesses.

We are currently leading a multi-year data transformation strategy consisting of a next generation data platform in Microsoft Azure, and a comprehensive firm-wide data management program.

We are seeking a passionate, talented and highly motivated Data Management Technical Analyst to join our team and help modernize our approach to data management and lay the groundwork for advanced analytics and data science.

Data Management Technical Analyst will work with Operations, Finance, Business and Technology professionals at all levels to analyze current data flows in detail, understand the data needs of our business, uncover issues with data across multiple complex systems, and help implement new platforms, tools and processes to better manage the information life-cycle.

You should have a strong background in technical business analysis, an expertise in data and data management, be extremely detail oriented and well organized, and be willing to roll up your sleeves and dig deep into complex problems to understand current state and to implement a target solution.

You must also be strong team player and collaborator.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Become a subject matter expert for existing data pipelines and business processes that supply it; serve as a business and technical subject matter expert on data and information assets
  • Understand business uses of data and help design data solutions that align with business’s current and future needs
  • Data and Process Mapping and DiscoveryCreate comprehensive inventories of data and processes and document in technical toolsConduct detailed research and discovery to understand data sources, processes, and integrations that cause data quality issues, provide recommendations and assist in implementationIdentify and recommend business process changes that drive data quality across business units
  • Project SupportSupport enhancement projects of our portfolio of trading and accounting applications by analyzing gaps in data standards and integration, and implement new data management practicesProvide data quality and data management requirements on IT projects, including new application design, enhancements, and new system implementations.
  • Coordinate on those requirements throughout the projectParticipate in integration, application, system, and process design end to end to craft data pipelines with uniformity across different businesses and cross-functional unitsWork closely with IT business analysts and end users (Data Owners) to establish data management processes and drive data stewardship & ownershipDocument data platform development, revisions, and requirements

  • Next Gen tools and supportWorking with business analysts and end-users, lead the technical analysis and implementation of an Enterprise Data Management solution (vendor product) comprising a data catalog, data lineage and data quality controls for all asset classes within the firmPlay a key role in MDM product implementation and support;
  • enable and train new data stewardsGrow, mature, and enforce modern data documentation standardsPartners with business leaders to establish data management definitions, KPI, and analytics that answer a business questionDevelop, update, and maintain Data Catalogs designed for business transparencyConduct data quality testingData Catalog product support

    Contacts

    This position has frequent contact with all levels of employees and management. In addition, this role may interact with outside business partners, vendors, consultants, and other office visitors.

    Education, Skills & Experience

    Required

  • BS / MS / BBA in technical field (mathematics, statistics, engineering, computer science, analytics, management information systems, or similar)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a data management or technical data analysis role for enterprise organization
  • Financial Services or Capital Markets experience preferred, but would consider other industries
  • Highly analytic and detail oriented with a strong attention to quality and accuracy
  • Worked in complex data environment and able to analyze data, find issues and patterns, and provide insights
  • Extensive experience working with data in a complex environment (analysis, root cause analysis, finding patterns, modeling, cleansing, and processes)
  • Ability to dissect the flow of data through upstream / downstream systems and complex calculations and transformations
  • Must be technically proficient, with familiarity of a programming languages such as Python or Javascript
  • Comfortable with SQL and knowledgeable of relational databases such as MS SQL Server
  • Knowledge of cloud data and analytics technologies and tools is a plus
  • Experience with data visualization front ends or Excel
  • Experience with Enterprise Data Management platforms such as Curium, Informatica or some other tool
  • Experience gathering requirements, leading, and developing tools to understand and improve data
  • Experience designing processes and solutions to capture uniform high quality data
  • Understanding of traditional and modern data warehousing architecture
  • Project management skills; ensure risks are mitigated, scope is managed, appropriate communication is achieved and milestones are met
  • Strong verbal / written communication skills
  • Creativity to go beyond current tools to deliver the best solution to the problem
  • Inquisitiveness and a real passion for continued self-improvement and development of new skills
  • Ability to operate appropriately and effectively in a dynamic, highly matrix and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience building business cases and project plans preferred
  • Experience with agile or iterative methodologies
  • Data storytelling experience
  • Experience implementing and designing applications with data as strategic goal
  • Good social skills with ability to connect and develop positive partnerships
