The position

The Critical Risks team at the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DMIRS) currently has a vacancy for a Senior Inspector, focussing on major hazard facilities.

In this role you will be working within a team environment administering the Dangerous Goods Safety Act 2004 and associated Major Hazard Facilities regulations.

As a Senior Inspector, you will be responsible for case managing an appropriate safety regulatory oversight regime for assigned operators and associated operations.

In this position you will also undertake audits, inspections and conduct or review investigations as required.

Our ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of the Safety Report regime and the technical capability to review and assess safety critical controls.

You will also have previous experience in conducting process safety audits in a technically complex industry.

This position is located in East Perth.

What is required to successfully undertake the role?

  • Bachelor of Engineering or Science in a petroleum, chemical, process or electrical discipline or other approved Bachelor degree relevant to the operations of highly complex safety critical industry sectors.
  • Significant experience in petrochemical, oil and gas and / or industrial chemical technologies in technical or regulatory positions.
  • Experience in process safety and / or control systems as well as technical risk management processes including inspections or audit of safety systems.

    Please note that completion of a National Police Clearance, Cā€™ Class Drivers Licence, Psychological Assessment, Pre-employment Medical and Conflict of Interest declaration, will also form part of the selection process.
