Reporting to the Features Editor, you will be chasing, interviewing and writing real-life stories for Take 5 weekly, Take 5 Bumper Monthly and brand extensions / specials.
You will have a genuine interest in everyday people's amazing true stories and be able to share them in Take 5's intimate first-person style with accuracy, warmth, compassion, humour and heart.
Pitch real life / news stories to the Features Editor and Deputy Features Editor on a daily basis.
Chase, interview and write real-life stories of all styles including real-life crime, romance, quirky reads and inspiring accounts of triumph over tragedy.
Devise ideas for on-brand campaigns and specials, and contribute to other sections of the magazine as needed.
Upload stories to Take 5's website and assist with weekly newsletter compilation.
Skills and experience
Have at least three years’ experience on a weekly magazine or newspaper. Some experience with real-life content preferred.
A tertiary degree in Communications / Journalism or similar.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
An ability to work to tight deadlines.
Proficiency in publishing tools such as InDesign, InCopy and Content Station preferred.
