The role

We have an opportunity for an dynamic Safety, Security, Environment & Risk Manager to be a part of Transdev Sydney Ferries to ensure compliance with mandated requirements and implement best practice in the areas of Safety (60%), Security (15%), Environment (15%) & Risk, including our corporate enterprise risks (10%).

Based in our Sydney CBD office, having a direct resource and reporting to the GM of Safety & Assurance, you will actively play a key role in the continuous evolution our Safety, Security, Environment & Risk management systems as well as welcoming 13 newly built vessels into our existing fleet and get them operationally ready.

In this role, you will have an opportunity to work closely with our Executive Leadership Team and make direct impacts to every corner of our business in a heavily unionised environment, all with a consultative and result oriented approach.

Requirements

Essentially, you are a forward-thinking professional who has demonstrated progressive experience in similar high-risk / heavily industrial environments.

To thrive in this role, you will be an influencer with a can-do attitude, and can facilitate a resourceful conversation with various senior stakeholders, understanding client needs and ready to take the lead toward improved efficiency and positive outcomes.

Our safety & assurance team is dynamic, able to work under constant pressure and certainly outcome driven. We foster collaboration, and work hard to ensureour frontline staff members’ are provided with a safe and secure work environment.

This is a permanent full-time position with a salary package (inclusive of Super) between $112kto $169k per annum. The preferred midpoint would be around $140k but top dollar is considered for top quality candidates.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong interpersonal skills including consultation, collaboration, and facilitation skills
  • Strong written and oral communication, with the ability to produce concise and coherent reports
  • High consistency in delivery
  • Ability to relate well with staff at all levels
  • Ability to use HSEQ software management systems
  • Knowledge of, commitment to, and ability to implement the principles of equal employment opportunity, occupational health and safety, and ethical practice.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience and Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications in WHS
  • Demonstrated ability and experience managing, designing, and implementing Safety, Security, Environment and Risk Management programs in a high-risk environment
  • Experienced in managing WHS in a unionised environment
  • Maritime and / or public transport industry experience
  • Certified Incident Investigator
  • Certified Internal Auditor
  • Knowledge and understanding of the following : ISO 45001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 31000
  • Education :

    University - Bachelor's Degree / 3-4 Year Degree
