The Physical Security Program Manager AU (PSPM AU) supports the Australian Security & Loss Prevention (SLP) team within the APAC SLP organization by launching Amazon Fulfilment and Operations locations throughout Australia.

The PSPM AU leads the planning, development and implementation of physical security controls in accordance with Amazon security frameworks, information security policies and Global Security policy.

This exciting opportunity provides the ability to leverage physical security subject matter expertise coupled with project management skills in support of new facility launches and expansions throughout Australia.

  • The successful candidate is expected to be a subject matter expert and leader, in the core sub-areas of security as defined by the industry-standard Common Body of Knowledge (CBK), below :
  • Physical Access Control Systems, Methodology and applications (incl. for both Physical and Operational Security)

    Intruder detection systems, methodology and applications

    Physical Security hardware, methodology and applications

    Security Management Practices

    Security tendering process; including scoping of work, budgeting, document writing, and negotiation.

    Information Security principals and alignment to Physical Security

    Holistic, ergonomic, Health & Safety and end to end project considerations; including knowledge of federal and state legislation

    The Physical Security Program Manager AU role must be able to respond quickly and exhibit expert judgment under pressure, operating in a rapid, fast-pace environment.

    Expectations of Physical Security Program Manager AU typically include physical security design and launch projects in Australia, while proactively managing changes in project scope, identifying potential issues, and devising contingency plans.

    Ensures projects are scoped and completed within the estimated budget, and can course correct when needed without jeopardizing the outcome or timeline.

    Performs site testing & commissioning functions to validate security integrator work in accordance with Amazon Global Security standards.

    Recognizes, adopts, utilizes and teaches best practices in the Physical Security Program Management : development of security frameworks, information security, security operations, security systems, policy, and response.

    Exhibits high capacity and tolerance for context switching and interruptions while remaining productive and able to provide effective, safe and secure guidance.

    Participates in efforts to promote security throughout the Company.

    Demonstrates a strong preference for assisting the business with achieving its goals as opposed to saying "no".

    Searches relentlessly for the root cause of problems to understand the broader context.

    Maintains understanding of the security threat environment and how it affects the company.

    Finds flaws in existing company processes and procedures and work with the appropriate stakeholders to get them remediated.

    Understands the current state of the art of security and how they can benefit the company.

    Maintains current knowledge and skills to keep up with the rapidly changing threat landscape.

    Participates in efforts that create and improve the company’s security policies.


  • Bachelor degree in IT, Engineering or similar sub-discipline from an accredited university.
  • Certificate IV in Security Operations (or similar qualification).
  • 5-7+ years of experience working in the design and installation of Access Control, Intrusion Detection and CCTV Surveillance systems.
  • ACMA cabling certification (minimum level Restricted).
  • Licensed security installer in Victoria (other states welcomed).
  • Construction white card for Australia

  • Ability to travel up to 70% domestically (and international, intermittently)

  • PMP and / or ASIS PSP / CPP Certification.
  • 3+ years of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) experience.
  • Knowledge and working experience of using CAD based design systems
  • Experience in leading and managing technical security teams : including on-boarding, training, mentoring junior team members.

  • Experience in performing physical security assessments of people, processes, and measures, including access control / intrusion detection and CCTV surveillance systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of physical security best practices.
  • Ability to integrate into an international work environment.
  • Proven track record of partnering with geographically dispersed team members.
  • Experience and proficiency in public speaking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Experience in briefing and communicating with all levels of management.
  • Track record for being detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to self-motivate and follow-through on projects.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with care.
