This is an entry level position designed to develop, support and mentor the successful applicant in all facets of the role.

This exciting role will be part of Council’s Education to Employment (E2E) program for apprentices, trainees, and cadets.

This position will allow you to learn and undertake a Certificate II in Local Government (Operational Works) while getting hands on experience in a variety of field bases duties associated with construction, maintenance of roads, drainage, footpaths, foreshore areas and associated facilities as well as vegetation maintenance actives.

A typical day in the position could have you workingwith concrete and using construction machinery, undertaking landscape andvegetation works using mowers and brush cutter equipment or repairing footpathsand maintenance activities like drainage and pipe works.

You will have the opportunity to rotate between three section of our City Works department including City Construction, City Infrastructure and City Presentation over a 12 month period.

  • You will have Year 10 Record of School Achievement, or TAFE equivalent with satisfactory English and Mathematics results
  • Current Class C licence
  • Able to satisfy basic manual handling and physical requirements of the position
  • Enjoying working in an outdoor environment is a must
  • Your enthusiasm to gain technical knowledge and learn physical skills will be evident
  • Being a positive team player with a can do attitude will see you stand out from the crowd

  • Starting from $613.34 per week plus 12% superannuation
  • 38-hour working week
