We are seeking a Senior Planning Officer with professional planning experience to join the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage in our Regional Planning Policy team.

If you have a degree in urban and regional planning and demonstrated success in the planning field we encourage you to apply.

  • In this role you would be responsible for investigating and reporting on a wide range of planning matters, primarily including : preparing and amending Layout Plans for Aboriginal communities and;
  • undertaking associated planning projects. This role does require the ability to travel to remote locations. Experience delivering a planning service to remote Aboriginal communities would be highly regarded.

    This vacancy exists due to parental leave. It is a temporary, fixed-term position with the possibility of extension and / or permanency.

    The position is available until May 2019. Suitable applicants may be considered for appointment to similar (permanent and fixed term) vacancies for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.

    To be successful in this role, you need to demonstrate :

  • a degree relevant to Urban and Regional Planning and or Development with substantial experience in the planning field;
  • an ability to prepare planning studies and reports on a range of planning matters, including amendments to local and region planning schemes, regional and local planning strategies, layout plans, structure plans, local planning studies, development and the subdivision and development of land;
  • an ability to proactively develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including within a cross-
  • cultural environment; and

  • the ability to operate in keeping with the Public Sector Code of Ethics and the Department's values.
