The Project An Alliance of CPB Contractors, Bombardier Transportation and Metro Trains Melbourne will deliver the $1 billion Rail Systems Alliance package of works, which includes the first roll-out of a high capacity signalling and communications system on an existing rail network anywhere in Australia.

Your Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Safety Advisor to join us on the RSA Project in Melbourne. Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you will draw on your existing experience to drive our "Safety and Health above all else" culture, working closely with the project team.

This is a great opportunity to join both a high-profile rail infrastructure project and a leading Tier 1 Contractor.

As Senior Safety Advisor, you will be accountable for :

  • Ensuring an accurate, timely and responsive Safety Health & Environment service is provided to the Project
  • Assisting in the development and enforcement of standards to ensure the Project complies with Safety Health & Environment regulatory and governance requirements
  • Undertaking investigations into all accidents / incidents to include the compilation and submission / presentation of appropriate reports
  • Managing Health & Safety Committee meetings
  • Managing and leading weekly Safety and Environmental Inspections to include the organisation, completion of records and follow through on actions arising
  • Monitoring and conducting regular Safety Health & Environment compliance checks and audits
  • Reviewing Contractor Safety & Environmental Management Plans to ensure conformance to requirements
  • Building and maintaining productive internal and external relationships
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements and all relevant company business standards, processes and Group policies.
  • Ensuring a current understanding of all relevant legislation is maintained at all times
  • Our minimum requirements for this role are :

  • Ideally, 5+ years' experience in a similar, site-based role
  • Tertiary qualification OH&S
  • Cert IV Work Health and Safety
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in qualitative risk assessment and development and monitoring of risk controls
  • ICAM Lead investigator accreditation
  • Return to Work Coordinator
  • Robust understanding of WHS Act and Regulations
  • Robust understanding of VIC Construction and Rail Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Rail Safety experience desirable
  • Inspection and report writing skills
  • Ability to build relationships and influence people at all levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Current Driver's Licence
