POSITION OBJECTIVE

This role supervises, trains and develops staff members of the Internal Affairs Unit Intelligence Team. Undertakes complex research and analysis of intelligence information to assist investigations.

Liaises with internal and external partners to provide analytical support for internal investigations.

SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE

It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position.

Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 2 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description).

Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to receive a waiver.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants are asked to address the following nominated work related requirements in no more than three (3) pages :

Intelligence gathering

  • Knowledge of complex intelligence gathering practices and techniques. Conducting complex and sensitive investigations in a corruption prevention / risk management policing environment
  • Corruption prevention

  • Knowledge of the Police Culture associated with corruption prevention and risk assessment strategies, including integrity testing regimes (alcohol and drug testing regime).
  • Initiating individual and work unit intervention strategies aimed at individual development and the promotion of corruption prevention initiatives

    Supervision

  • Supervising staff. Providing guidance, advice, training and support to officers at all levels on intelligence information
  • Computer

  • Experience in the use of computer software and specialised programmes including IAPro, iBase and Analyst Notebook, as used in a Policing environment related to research and statistical analysis.
  • Developing and producing charts, maps, profiles on trends and patterns pertaining to ethics and integrity through intelligence information management software, Police Information Management System

    Applicants are also required to submit a Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills and experience relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.

    The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements.

    Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor / manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

    Please note : For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.

    OTHER CONDITIONS

    Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area.

    In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process.

    Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.

    Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for this position is not a current WA Police Force employee.

    Any relocation costs associated with appointment to this position may be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
