Richmond Multipurpose Health Service

Successful applicants to this position may be eligible for the Rural Area Nursing Incentive Package and temporary accommodation is negotiable.

The Registered Nurse provides clinical expertise, support and education to nursing staff within a multipurpose health service environment in a rural and remote location.

Utilising clinical skills, knowledge and experience the position holder will deliver a high standard of evidence based person centred care to patients, providing support to patients, families and other healthcare colleagues within the Richmond Multipurpose Health Service.

This dynamic position services a -bed rural facility, comprising of four aged care and six acute inpatient beds whilst providing a Hospital Based Ambulance Service to the town and surrounding community of Richmond.

Temporary Accommodation negotiable (dependent on the successful applicants requirements).

Requirements of the role

  • Mandatory : Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent is a required qualification for this position.
  • There is an expectation that attainment and competency of skills to support the Hospital Based Ambulance (HBA) role including Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support, Trauma Nursing Core Course and Advanced Life Support - Adult and Paediatric will be progressed through training and professional development.
  • Shift Workers : Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster and participation in the facility on call roster.
  • Drivers Licence : The position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.
  • Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.

  • Aged Care Pre Employment Screening - Potential applicants for this position are advised that before an applicant can be appointed, Section -A of the Aged Care Act requires Queensland Health employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate.
  • Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above Police.

  • Influenza Vaccinations - Aged Care and Multipurpose Facilities
  • From May under the Aged Care Direction (No. ) all people (including staff and visitors) entering a residential age care facility (including multipurpose facilities) must be vaccinated against influenza.

    A person to who the direction applies, commits and offence if the person fails without reasonable excuse to comply with the direction (section D of the Public Health Act. ).

  • Ability to critically think in relation to planning and responding to potentially rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
  • Knowledge of legal and professional responsibilities.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the multidisciplinary team, patients and other stakeholders, including participation in relevant networks.
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills within the multidisciplinary team, patients and their families.
  • Ability to use or learn to use information systems appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to provide clinical education and support and demonstrate own ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to demonstrate competency as outlined in the NMBA Registered Nurse Standards for Practice.
  • Richmond Multipurpose Health Service

    The Richmond Multipurpose Health Service is a small rural hospital with beds, an oral health clinic and community health services.

    Up to four beds are utilised for long stay nursing home type patients. The Health Service provides an emergency service, general medical / post surgical and paediatric inpatient care, pharmacy service, and adult community services and child health services within both the outpatients area and in the community.

    The Primary Healthcare Network deliver allied health services as per schedule. Seriously ill patients are evacuated to a tertiary facility and this is coordinated by Retrieval Services Queensland utilising the services of Royal Flying Doctor Service.
