You will be responsible for providing a range of speech pathology services to adult inpatients and outpatients of the Flinders Medical Centre.
This will include consultancy, assessment and therapeutic intervention, utilising specialist skills in the management of complex problems.
Works predominantly with an adult inpatient caseload across various acute medical and surgical units, you may also be required to work with a paediatric feeding caseload, with support provided as required.
Weekend work may be required. The caseload may change according to the needs of the Department. As part of your role, you may also be required to engage in education, applied clinical research and staff and student supervision.
Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) is the southern area's largest hospital providing medical services for the southern population of Adelaide and major regional rural centres.
The flagship hospital for southern Adelaide, FMC has recently undergone an exciting period of redevelopment. The campus is situated in the Adelaide foothills on an 11.
5 hectare campus approximately 12 kilometres from the city centre.
You will hold an appropriate degree in Speech Pathology or an equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Speech Pathology Association of Australia.
With prior experience in speech pathology practice in an acute hospital setting, you will be familiar with conducting and interpreting videofluoroscopic swallowing studies (VFSS).
Along with sound knowledge of evidence based principles of practice in adult communication and swallowing disorders, you will be capable of working in an independent manner with limited supervision.
A high level of verbal and written communication skills will be essential.
