  • The School of Women’s & Children’s Health (SWCH) is comprised of the clinical disciplines of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics, and the National Perinatal Epidemiology Statistics Unit (NPESU).

    The Behavioural Sciences Unit (BSU) was established in 2001 to conduct research studies that cover all psychosocial, behavioural and nutritional aspects of paediatric cancer.

    The Behavioural Sciences Unit (BSU) is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Associate or Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of several research studies which involve psycho-social aspects of children with cancer and their families.

    The position will involve completing research tasks related to these studies, supervising research assistants and students, overseeing collection, interpretation and preparation of data for manuscript submission and some general office management.

    The position will be responsible for a new project working with children, families and healthcare professionals to document and analyse the impacts of precision medicine.

    To be successful in the role you will have :

  • A PhD in Psychology or related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of research methodology and previous experience coordinating psychological research studies in a health-related field, particularly in the area of psycho-oncology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based psychology practice for the range of psychological disorders and problematic issues commonly occurring in children with cancer and their families.
  • Qualitative and quantitative data coding / collection and analysis skills
  • Proven IT skills with knowledge and experience using research-related computer programs (such as Endnote, SPSS and NVivo).
  • Excellent communication skills with high level of academic writing skills.
