Based in Perth WA, this role is responsible for sales of Variable Speed Drives within the WA region. You should be passionate about building long-term customer relationships and managing customer needs to resolve issues and support the positive development of their business and partnership with ABB.

You will have a strong track record of identifying and successfully acquiring sales opportunities. In this position, you will also require a growth mindset to increase market share through the conversion of our competitor customer base.

Your responsibilities

  • In this role, you will be a driving force for selling Drives as products and systems to customers, focusing on volume, mix and profitability targets for the Drives business.
  • Establish and maintain effective customer relationships to understand customer needs and align to provide a solution. Ensure a positive customer experience throughout the sales process to make transacting as seamless as possible.
  • Prepare and maintain your annual sales strategy for the WA Drives market specifically focusing on the retention and growth of our market in Mining, Water and F&B industry segments.
  • Perform regular status reviews and propose recovery plan(s) in cases of potential order shortfalls.

  • Create added value for your customers and ABB to ensure the successful outcome of transactions, contracts and proposals by using effective sales techniques.
  • You should be comfortable in communicating these details in accordance with ABB’s offering and strategy (Contractual Terms & Conditions).

  • You will have a generous scope of opportunity to be involved in supporting the various ABB channels to market (OEMs, Distributors, System Integrators, Panel Builders) in delivering proposals based on the customer requirements.
  • Through your confidence in leadership, you will steer multi-tender bids in the region for projects ensuring a comprehensive and sound technical solution is developed with each channel.

  • Besides managing key administrative procedures within the sales process, your knowledge-sharing of market analysis (monitoring of competitors, offerings to customers, price levels) will be fundamental to the growth of the business.
  • Keeping this data current in our Salesforce CRM platform will be central to overseeing your sales performance and identifying trends.

    Along with this, you’ll ensure the appropriate technical and financial aspects of offers, including prices and trading conditions, retain validity.

    Your background

  • More than 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Specific knowledge of the WA Mining, Water and F&B customer base and applications
  • Understanding of Drives technology to support customers
  • Demonstrated experience at building long-term customer relationships
  • Proven track record of identifying and successfully acquiring sales opportunities
