  • The Export Reform & Traceability Taskforce is responsible for working with stakeholders to design, develop and implement an improved agricultural export legislation framework prior to 1 April 2021 when most of the legislation ceases to be law.

    This work is being informed by extensive internal and external stakeholder engagement (including with trading partners).

    The legislation is critical to Australia's economy; it underpins the export certificates provided by the department to accompany exported goods, which assures importing countries that their import conditions have been met - and is a high priority for the department.

    The legislative reform is comprehensive and has been the subject of extensive consultation already.

    The Jobs

    As a Policy and Project Officer in the Export Reform and Traceability Taskforce, your duties may include, but are not limited to :

  • assisting with designing and delivering improved export legislation that meets stakeholders’ needs and can be implemented effectively
  • contributing to policy development related to the legislation
  • contributing to the development and management of project plans, including monitoring, evaluation and status reporting
  • collaborating, communicating and engaging proactively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
  • representing the department in meetings with internal and external stakeholders (including preparing the minutes of the meeting)
  • preparing a wide range of written material for internal and external use
  • preparing and providing timely advice and / or briefings for Executive Committees, the Secretary, Minister and other stakeholders.
  • Please note that this recruitment process will be used to fill an existing vacancy within the Legislative Development Team but may also be used to fill future vacancies in the Taskforce where the duties are of a similar nature.

    The merit pool established through this selection process is valid for a period of twelve months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Gazette.

    What we are looking for

    Knowledge and experience

    You will have :

  • demonstrated experience in developing policy and interpreting or developing legislation or demonstrated experience in project and / or program management.
  • experience in working collaboratively and cultivating and maintaining productive working relationships with stakeholders
  • knowledge of Australia’s agricultural export systems and experience in project or program management (desirable but not essential).
