  • We're looking for a senior software engineer to help us continue to build and deliver delightful software in a high-functioning team environment.

    Ideally you've got at least 5 years experience, and can demonstrate full stack leadership capability.

    We're looking to expand the capacity of the team to be able to cope with an expanding product suite with a larger user base, as well as supporting the internal needs of a growing SaaS business.

    HappyCo builds mobile and cloud solutions to enable real-time operations for the property management industry, for a user base primarily in the US.

    Please note that you must have the right to work full time, in Australia. The position is based in Adelaide, and due to current circumstances we are not able to support relocation for international- or interstate-based candidates.

    Responsibilities

    A senior software engineer should be able to show the capability and knowledge required to deliver against these responsibilities.

    Strategic Responsibilities

  • Lead quality development outcomes in software design and development in accordance with organisation architecture and standards, participating in and devising solution approaches by analytical thinking.
  • Identify, review and elaborate business requirements from a technical perspective and determine technical solutions.
  • Assist in driving the improvement of software development process and quality assurance activities in order to improve product quality.
  • Interact with customer representatives to capture feedback and domain knowledge to assist in ensuring that product development is in line with business objectives.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other software development staff.
  • Daily Responsibilities

  • Identify, define and analyse requirements.
  • Create and review design specifications and technical solutions for medium-large features.
  • Implement well structured code aligned to product architecture, driving robustness, modularity and testability.
  • Reviews and provides feedback as an authority in ensuring development standards are performed consistently in line with organisation standards.
  • Fully participates in and provides feedback on the company's software development methodology, driving improvements.
  • Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Bachelor / Grad Dip. Science / Computer Science / Software Engineering, IT Certification or similar) or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years proven working experience in software development.
  • Development experience across these fields :
  • An OO language - and preferably some knowledge of Golang
  • Web development - preferably React
  • Sound understanding of design and architectural patterns, and coding practices.
  • Experience with software development and quality processes, especially Agile development methodologies.
  • Personal Attributes / Qualities

  • Positive work attitude and keen to learn.
  • Clear spoken and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff.
  • Values good quality technical outcomes that meet team needs.
  • Able to work both independently and with a team.
  • A constructively critical thinker.
