About the role

We are looking for a Botanist to join our Biological Assessments team in Perth on a 12 month fixed term basis.

  • This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, safety conscious professional who will work within a multi-disciplined team;
  • applying knowledge of relevant legislation and technical guides to Pilbara-focused environmental approvals. Reporting to the Specialist Biological Assessments, you will :

  • Independently lead biological surveys in remote Pilbara areas.
  • Undertake effective survey planning including logistics and health and safety.
  • Prepare technical reports, data and provide technical advice to support government and environmental approval requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of biological assessment methods, processes and technologies to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external technical specialists.
  • Contribute toward an inclusive culture through collaboration with peers across the broader Environmental Approvals team.
  • About you

    To be successfully considered for this role, you will have :

  • Tertiary qualifications in botany / ecology / environmental science or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience as a field botanist within the resources sector.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills coupled with an ability to think on your feet and make quick rational decisions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to quickly develop positive and robust relationships with stakeholders.
