Veolia has an excellent opportunity for a Manager - Landfills and Transfer Stations, to join our Solid Waste team. In this role you will be responsible for safety, operational, project and financial management across the Archerfield Transfer Station, Wattle Glen Recycling, Wattle Glen and City Links closed landfill sites.

This is a great opportunity to manage an exciting and diverse portfolio of facilities that have opportunities for further growth and development.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • Managing the sites safety, operational and financial performance
  • Implementing operational plans for the achievement of goals and objectives
  • Ongoing development of product recovery and recycling processes
  • Lead a diverse team of supervisors, operators and administrators
  • Ensure facilities meet all compliance criteria to maintain license to operate
  • Manage engineering and capital projects on site to budget and schedule
  • Actively contribute to SHEQ practice in the workplace
  • Monitor and implement staff training and development
  • Driving continuous improvement across all facilities to achieve operational efficiencies
  • Maintain an industry awareness of best practices for implementation.
  • Commitment to meeting / exceeding customer expectations
  • Maintain an effective relationships with external parties and regulators
  • Regular reporting on progress against budgets, plans and performance metric
  • Assign responsibilities and mentor project teams
  • What You Bring

  • Have experience in managing product recovery or materials handling facilities
  • Be a strong communicator who enjoys motivating and leading their team from the front
  • Have a high level of business acumen and proven success managing P&L
  • Be competent at assessing technical issues to find solutions that drive performance
  • Possess project management experience, with budgeting and planning attributes
  • Have completed a degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences or a relevant field
  • Thrive on a challenge and have a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Understand the importance of safety and the assessment of risk to create a safe workplace for yourself and for those around you
