    Swinburne's Student Engagement department seeks a student-focused individual for the role of Academic Development Advisor.

    In this position, you will be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating activities aimed at enhancing student engagement and academic attainment, and reducing student attrition.

    The work of the team has recently been profiled in The Conversation.

    Reporting to the Academic Development Advisor Coordinator, your role will be integral to supporting students as they adapt to tertiary study, as well as supporting the recovery of students who have been identified as at risk’ of continued academic failure or require early intervention’ to prevent academic failure.

    The Academic Development Advisor will consult with students on a one-on-one basis, facilitate group activities and liaise with relevant academic and student support areas.

    About you

    To be successful in the role, you will have :

  • Substantial experience in tertiary teaching, including in program coordination and group facilitation
  • Proven ability to implement high quality student engagement programs in a variety of learning modes which respond to a diverse range of student and client needs
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and promote an inclusive, healthy and safe learning environment and provide support and advice to a diverse range of students
